The Ministry of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is the government body responsible for overseeing all military and paramilitary forces within the country. Headquartered in Hanoi's ancient citadel, the Ministry operates under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Government, adhering to the nation's constitution and laws. Its command structure includes the central office, the General Staff, the General Political Department, and other specialized departments. The Ministry holds supreme command over the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), encompassing the Ground Forces, Navy, Air Force-Air Defence, Border Guard, and Coast Guard. It also manages the People's Army Newspaper and the Military Broadcasting Center.
