Sumitomo Mitsui Construction (SMC) is a major Japanese construction company, formed in 2003 through the merger of Mitsui Construction and Sumitomo Construction. Founded in 2003, but with roots dating back to 1887 (through Nishimoto-Gumi, the predecessor of Mitsui Construction), SMC is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and operates in over 30 countries worldwide, with subsidiaries and projects across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.
