The project, initiated in November 2009, was beset by various challenges, including a two-year delay due to financial difficulties. These setbacks necessitated adjustments to the original plans, such as the removal of planned tennis courts and landscaping to accommodate two villas.
The selection of Carlos Zapata Studio, a New York-based architectural firm, marked a significant step in the project’s development. Zapata’s design, a “reverse skyscraper” with a dramatic cantilevered structure, was chosen for its unique interpretation of Vietnamese mythology and its reflection of the country’s coastal landscape.
