Saigon Co.op, established in 1989, is the leading consumer cooperative retailer in Vietnam. Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Co.op operates a diverse portfolio of businesses, including the Co.opmart supermarket chain (its first opening in 1996), Co.op food stores, Co.opXtra hypermarkets, Sense City commercial centers, and the HTV Co.op television shopping channel. The company also engages in import-export activities, dealing in various goods from consumer products to agricultural produce. While Saigon Co.op maintains a strong relationship with the Vietnamese government, with the People's Committee overseeing its management, it is not state-owned but operates under the cooperative model.
